Let's get ready to RUMBLE!

When we were in Dallas earlier this month, we went shopping at Ikea and found the cutest toy storage system for Keller's room so we could finally  get his toys out of the living room.  So we have been spending a lot more time playing in his room these days. Today Keller's T-Rex struck his fancy so I thought it was a great opportunity to pull out the camera.  So, now, ladies and gentlemen, it's time for...  Wrestlemania 2010! In the blue corner, weighing in at just over 2 pounds is T-Rex! And in the red corner, weighing in a 30 lbs...It's Killer Keller! Keller goes in high and pins the T-Rex's arms. They are so short and stubby there's no way it can fight back! Now he's got it in a choke hold. The T-Rex is very quickly blacking out from lack of oxygen. He is no match for Killer Keller's brute strength! With T-Rex out cold, Keller picks him up and slams him to the ground in a classic Hulk Hogan move! This guy doesn't stand a chance! And now f...

First week of school

Where to begin... It was an interesting and LLOONNGG first week of school. I always forget how long the days are when you first start back after having gotten used to sleeping in and doing nothing all day for approx. 3 months. This year's group of freshmen seem to be quite a good group (of course compared to last year's class, the South Park kids would be considered a good class...). Just because they are good though, does not mean they aren't interesting... Even though I'm another year older and these kids are another year younger, they get braver and braver. I was hit on or a comment was made about how "hot" I was no less than 14 times in the span of 5 days I was with these kids. I know, I know, and nope, I am not joking. These young men have no shame and don't mind telling me how it is. On the very first day I was called pumpkin, cookie and sweetheart (and all by the same kid!). He quickly learned those terms of endearment were not okay to call his m...

Orange Leaf Yogurt

My mom is staying with us on Mondays and Tuesdays and is keeping Keller while Jed and I work so he only has to go to daycare twice a week. Today, was a particularly long day for both of us actually, but around 4:00 I had a break and as it happens Mom decided to take Keller out for frozen yogurt at our favorite place, Orange Leaf. We love the place because it has the best  frozen yogurt in Norman -and I have tried them all- and it is has lots of room for Keller to run around. Another bonus, it is hardly ever busy, so while it isn't exactly designed for kids to run amuck in, the people who run the place have come to recognize us I think and just look the other way when we let Keller run all around the place. It was a nice treat today because not only is it about a million degrees outside with a heat index of two million and a half, but Keller has a double ear infection and has not been feeling well, so his wonderful Nonnie thought this would be an awesome treat. Apparently K did too...

Heather's Baby Shower

One of my dearest and oldest friends from high school is having a baby in October, so four other friends and I threw her a baby shower to honor her and little Saylor who is on the way. Sara had the cutest idea for cupcakes for the shower. The only downfall...we had to decorate all 150 of them. Luckily, Sara's mom is a wedding caker and holiday cookier (like my interesting words!), so we had the perfect place to make all the cupcakes and all of the perfect ingredients. Sara, Elena and I had so much fun decorating the things until late on Friday night. But if you look closely, as the night went on we got sillier and sillier with the cupcake babies when designing their hairdos. I actually starting piping comb-overs and fros on my poor kiddos. But they really did turn out adorable. Somehow my fro and my comb-over made it in the same box. Can you find them?   I won't say the shower went off without a hitch on Saturday, there was enough of a hiccup that Sara, LaHonda, and I...

I hear school bells ringing...

School started on Monday so it has been a long busy week already (The kids don't even start until Friday!). I find myself falling into bed every night after getting home late, and as a result my computer life has suffered. I don't think I have check Facebook or even thought about updating my blog until today. It's okay though because there hasn't been much to update. Thankfully, Keller has spent this week in Dallas at Nonnie and Papa Todd's. We have missed him, but with me being so busy and Jed being sick (bronchitis and  a sinus infection, poor guy), it was nice not to have a temperamental 20-month old running around. However, I was going through my pics tonight and realized I have one of Keller from last Thursday that I completely forgot I took! Ha! Doesn't it look just like one of those fake legs you see hanging out of someone's car door going down the interstate? Only this is the real thing! We frequently find Keller sound asleep with either one or bot...
We came to Dallas this weekend to see my parents and Uncle Tanner. We thought it was a good opportunity and probably our last chance to come down before the summer winds down. I officially go back to work on Monday, Jed has a busy work schedule coming up and football season starts! Uncle T surprised us when we walked in the door and bought Keller a flight suit just like his own. Now Lt. Summers has his own little Lt. to mold. Needless to say, Keller's Halloween costume is picked out. Second Lt. Summers and his First Lt. Keller! Keller in his officer's cap on loan from Uncle Tanner Keller is clearly very excited about his new duds!

Summer lovin'

Not much has been going on in the Cole household this last week before school starts. We've just been hanging out, mostly playing inside because it is too dang hot to go out. We have also discovered that Norman has a serious lack of anything toddler friendly to play at indoors. About the only thing is Gymboree and it is way to expensive and open odd hours anyway. So most days that just leaves us playing at home and watching Sesame Street. While I have had plenty of cute photo ops this week, sadly I am usually too busy playing (or sometimes even rearranging furniture) to take a pic at the opportune moment. However, I had three pics on my phone from earlier in the summer that have become three of my favs of Keller and thought I would share them with the world. And now for my absolute favorite ever...

Hot Days Equal Frozen Yogurt

It has been so hot here lately! Above 100 degrees most days. Too hot to even go outside. We did get to play outside for about an hour a few days ago and I completely forgot I had taken pictures of it. Keller loves to play with Jed's sprinkler and most of the time move it around for him. Another one of Keller's favorite things to do these days is to sit in the fridge. I have no idea why he does this but anytime someone opens the fridge to get something out, Keller plops right down on the shelf and just sits there until you are done. Then he happily jumps up and shuts the door for you. He has become the fridge attendant (luckily he doesn't ask for tips!) On Friday, Mammo and cousin Karis came to Norman for a visit. These two cousins love each other so much and follow each other around. Keller is definitely not he cuddler he used to be, but Karis loves to pick him up and try to carry him around like when he was a baby. He'll tolerate it for a hot second and then he star...

Little Cowboy

Keller got to play at Mammo's (Jed's mom) house this morning while mommy was away. His favorite thing to do it get out his Bapa's (Jed's dad) cowboy hat and old cowboy boots. Bapa has had these boots since he was a kid himself, so it is so funny to see Keller play with them all these years later. They are too big and go all the way to his knees, so he waddles around for a few minutes before he has decided he's had enough and takes them off until the next time. And once he's done playing with Bapa's hat, he moves on to wearing his daddy's old red hat. However, once he's done playing dress up, it's always more fun to throw everything down the stairs and watch it go tumbling. Playing on the stairs isn't something we encourage, so he hears his least favorite word in the world when this happens (No) and while he usually throws a tantrum, today I just got a pouty face. It was too cute. On a completely different non-Keller end of the spectrum, Jed l...

Attempt #3

Okay. So this is my third attempt at starting a blog for our family. I am only doing in for three reasons: 1. My friend Shea's blog is so awesome. I love reading about her family and keeping up the goings on of her little one who is only a few months younger than Keller. It's neat to compare them to see that my child is not the only one with the antics he has sometimes. 2. My mom has now read Shea's and thinks it would be so good if I could keep them (being my parents) updated on Keller on an almost daily basis. 3. The age of the internet is not going away and I need a way to get memories of all of K's craziness down somewhere without keeping about 500 handwritten diaries. So, three pretty valid reasons I believe. Now the hard part...I just have to stay diligent about paying attention to the day and remembering to blog at night for this to actually work. So here is what has been going on this summer... Not much! Being on summer break this year has been so much fun. I l...
