Attempt #3

Okay. So this is my third attempt at starting a blog for our family. I am only doing in for three reasons:
1. My friend Shea's blog is so awesome. I love reading about her family and keeping up the goings on of her little one who is only a few months younger than Keller. It's neat to compare them to see that my child is not the only one with the antics he has sometimes.
2. My mom has now read Shea's and thinks it would be so good if I could keep them (being my parents) updated on Keller on an almost daily basis.
3. The age of the internet is not going away and I need a way to get memories of all of K's craziness down somewhere without keeping about 500 handwritten diaries.
So, three pretty valid reasons I believe. Now the hard part...I just have to stay diligent about paying attention to the day and remembering to blog at night for this to actually work.
So here is what has been going on this summer...
Not much! Being on summer break this year has been so much fun. I love love love staying home with Keller and am so sad that school starts again on August 16. Going back to work is going to be so hard. There is a silver lining though in the fact that I am not coaching volleyball this year, so when school is out for the day I get to come home to my little man at a decent time instead of late at night. I am very happy about this. I guess another good point is, I am sure my readers will get a kick out of my rants I am bound to post on the antics of eighty-four 15 year olds everyday. Sometimes they can be funny little creatures (I have pretty much decided 14 and 15 year olds are not human but rather some humanoid creature that comes from the planet" I
Don't Need to Shower or Change Out of My Pjs or Do My Homework to Come to School so Get Off My Case")
I was able to visit North Carolina in June and see Heather and Therese! It was fun having a week with the girls, but I definitely missed my guys so much.

Our shock of the summer has been Keller HATING the water. Bath time is fine, but lake water or pool water has been a completely different story, a story that ends in wails.
Keller waded a little ways into the water at Lake Texoma...
and quickly waded back out again when he realized it wasn't as warm as bath water.

However, things all changed 2 weeks ago when we went to his Aunt Joli's in Dallas and he was able to play with the fountains in her pool. Those fountains completely changed his mind on the big chlorine-filled pit of terror, and for the last week Keller has loved swimming. We are keeping our fingers crossed this new found desire for the pool stays in place for the rest of the summer.

Last Thursday I was almost eaten by a snake out in the country! (Yes, really!) No, not really, the snake was too busy trying to eat a bird to eat me but it really did almost fall out of a tree right onto my head landing about 2 feet from me. It was one of the scariest moments of my life. No country living for this city girl. Luckily, my good friend Terry (it was he and his wife's house so therefore his snake), came to the rescue and cut the head off the snake, saving me from being devoured alive no doubt! Of course, Keller had to be keenly interested in this entire process and almost tried to touch the snake himself. Luckily, I distracted him and later we caught fireflies instead (of which he promptly crushed between his fingers).
This blog is getting to be entirely too long....More later.

Terra Verde sings at Rivermont

I say it all the time, but I will say it again--we are SO HAPPY that we have found Terra Verde Discovery School for Keller to attend. This year has been amazing. We have gone from having a child who HATED going to school everyday the last two years to having a little boy who can't wait to get there in the morning.  His teacher, Ms. Lindsay Berryhill, is an amazing woman who has gotten Keller to tune in and love learning.  Among the wonderful things he has done in first grade this year, including learning Mandarin, having a lemonade stand to earn money to build an animal hospital for dramatic play, visiting The Orr Family Farm, having a manners lunch at Charlestons, and many more things, he also had the opportunity to sing Christmas carols with his 89 other school mates at Rivermont Retirement Home.  The seniors at the home were so entered by these children and we were truly impressed with how well they all behaved. The singing was excellent, but what was truly inspiring w...

It's been ENTIRELY too long!

Clearly Keller is distraught that it has been so long since my last posting. It has been almost two weeks since my last blog post. These last two weeks at school have been so busy that when I come home at night the last thing I want to do is get on the computer. Plus, working so much has not left me ample time to get good shots of Keller. When we're playing and he does something funny I never have the camera around. However, as a good change of pace I do have some good video taken from this weekend. My mom keeps Keller 2-3 days a week and for some reason she decided the boy does not have enough toys. As if...(haha, throwback to Clueless). So, she decided Keller needed to work on being the next Tiger Woods (before all the you know). Anyway, this is Keller with his very first set of golf clubs. At first glance, he seems like a natural... Doesn't it look like he hit the ball right into the cup and is now getting the ball out of his hole-in-one? We he did get it in the cup ...
