I say it all the time, but I will say it again--we are SO HAPPY that we have found Terra Verde Discovery School for Keller to attend. This year has been amazing. We have gone from having a child who HATED going to school everyday the last two years to having a little boy who can't wait to get there in the morning.
His teacher, Ms. Lindsay Berryhill, is an amazing woman who has gotten Keller to tune in and love learning.
Among the wonderful things he has done in first grade this year, including learning Mandarin, having a lemonade stand to earn money to build an animal hospital for dramatic play, visiting The Orr Family Farm, having a manners lunch at Charlestons, and many more things, he also had the opportunity to sing Christmas carols with his 89 other school mates at Rivermont Retirement Home.
The seniors at the home were so entered by these children and we were truly impressed with how well they all behaved. The singing was excellent, but what was truly inspiring was that at the end of the concert all the children split up with their buddies and went and greeted the seniors and had conversations with them. The fact that these children from kindergarten to fifth grade talked to their elders with so much respect and gratitude for their wisdom is a true declaration of the wonderful teachings that happen at Terra Verde.
Keller has also made a new best friend in a little boy named Oakley. They became fast friends at the beginning of the school year when Keller was the new kid and Oakley took him under his wing. Let's see what the future holds!
