February 2014

February was a pretty slow month for us. The only thing that kept us busy (and worried) was Mommo being in the hospital for a couple weeks because of an intestine problem. It was awful and we were worried about her. The silver lining in all of it was that Aunt Joli came and stayed with us for a few days. She spent the days at the hospital with her mom, but in the evenings she hung out at our house. Keller loved having his Aunt Joli here to show off for. And they had a blast making funny faces for the camera.

February was unseasonably warm, so we spent a few of the "warmer" days outside playing with chalk. Keller manages to get it everywhere, as I guess he thinks it is face paint too!

I spent the afternoon creating the ultimate hopscotch board on the back patio. I think it went from 1-50, and there were jumps, turns, arrows going every-which-way...it was a lot of fun and was so much better than the boring old 1-10 stuff I grew up playing. Plus, it got Keller counting higher and higher!

Keller was also Mrs. Aguiar's Student-of-the-Month for February in Pre-K. He received the award for Kindness. He was pretty proud of himself.

Keller also decided in February that he likes hot chocolate now, so it became a habit to have it every day when we got home from school to warm our chilly bones!

Terra Verde sings at Rivermont

I say it all the time, but I will say it again--we are SO HAPPY that we have found Terra Verde Discovery School for Keller to attend. This year has been amazing. We have gone from having a child who HATED going to school everyday the last two years to having a little boy who can't wait to get there in the morning.  His teacher, Ms. Lindsay Berryhill, is an amazing woman who has gotten Keller to tune in and love learning.  Among the wonderful things he has done in first grade this year, including learning Mandarin, having a lemonade stand to earn money to build an animal hospital for dramatic play, visiting The Orr Family Farm, having a manners lunch at Charlestons, and many more things, he also had the opportunity to sing Christmas carols with his 89 other school mates at Rivermont Retirement Home.  The seniors at the home were so entered by these children and we were truly impressed with how well they all behaved. The singing was excellent, but what was truly inspiring w...

It's been ENTIRELY too long!

Clearly Keller is distraught that it has been so long since my last posting. It has been almost two weeks since my last blog post. These last two weeks at school have been so busy that when I come home at night the last thing I want to do is get on the computer. Plus, working so much has not left me ample time to get good shots of Keller. When we're playing and he does something funny I never have the camera around. However, as a good change of pace I do have some good video taken from this weekend. My mom keeps Keller 2-3 days a week and for some reason she decided the boy does not have enough toys. As if...(haha, throwback to Clueless). So, she decided Keller needed to work on being the next Tiger Woods (before all the you know). Anyway, this is Keller with his very first set of golf clubs. At first glance, he seems like a natural... Doesn't it look like he hit the ball right into the cup and is now getting the ball out of his hole-in-one? We he did get it in the cup ...
