Sprayground

So, I waited a little late in the summer to take Keller to the Norman sprayground, but I finally did it! My parents came to visit one day during the last weekend of August and it was so hot outside that we decided to let Keller go run some of his energy off.
I figured he would love the sprayground because he loves swimming so much. Boy, was I wrong! He wanted nothing to do with it! He clung to either me, Mom or Dad for the first 15 minutes we were there. He would watch the water and stick his hand in it, but he wanted no part of going in it or under it.

Just before we were about to call it quits, Papa Todd got brave and decided that it was going to take getting wet ourselves (which we were completely unprepared for), to get Keller to play in the water. Here is Papa Todd and Keller running through the rainbow sprinkler.

And after their first run through. He doesn't look too traumatized.

This rainbow sprinkler ended up being Keller's favorite thing to play with at the sprayground and he would run back and forth, back and forth. At first poor Papa Todd had to run back and forth with him. Dad was soaked when it was time to go!
Then, Nonnie got in on the action and ran through a few times with him. (Me? I just stayed on the sidelines and took pictures!)
Finally, Keller got brave enough to go by himself and he realized how cool it really was!

He even warmed up to the other water toys and eventually stood in the middle of a fountain that shoots up. It did completely catch him off guard when it came on all of a sudden while he was standing in the middle of it. I'm so glad I got a picture of it!

And finally, while searching through some pictures my mom had on her camera I found this picture of my dad and Keller from Easter. I love this photo!

Terra Verde sings at Rivermont

I say it all the time, but I will say it again--we are SO HAPPY that we have found Terra Verde Discovery School for Keller to attend. This year has been amazing. We have gone from having a child who HATED going to school everyday the last two years to having a little boy who can't wait to get there in the morning.  His teacher, Ms. Lindsay Berryhill, is an amazing woman who has gotten Keller to tune in and love learning.  Among the wonderful things he has done in first grade this year, including learning Mandarin, having a lemonade stand to earn money to build an animal hospital for dramatic play, visiting The Orr Family Farm, having a manners lunch at Charlestons, and many more things, he also had the opportunity to sing Christmas carols with his 89 other school mates at Rivermont Retirement Home.  The seniors at the home were so entered by these children and we were truly impressed with how well they all behaved. The singing was excellent, but what was truly inspiring w...

It's been ENTIRELY too long!

Clearly Keller is distraught that it has been so long since my last posting. It has been almost two weeks since my last blog post. These last two weeks at school have been so busy that when I come home at night the last thing I want to do is get on the computer. Plus, working so much has not left me ample time to get good shots of Keller. When we're playing and he does something funny I never have the camera around. However, as a good change of pace I do have some good video taken from this weekend. My mom keeps Keller 2-3 days a week and for some reason she decided the boy does not have enough toys. As if...(haha, throwback to Clueless). So, she decided Keller needed to work on being the next Tiger Woods (before all the you know). Anyway, this is Keller with his very first set of golf clubs. At first glance, he seems like a natural... Doesn't it look like he hit the ball right into the cup and is now getting the ball out of his hole-in-one? We he did get it in the cup ...
