Eggs!

Jed and Keller went shopping for a new lawn mower today...what fun...NOT!...
Keller doesn't agree with me though; he LOVES tractors and was so glad he got to go with his dad today.

It's Easter, so you know what that means! Time to color eggs! Yea! I LOVE coloring eggs and I don't think I have done it in years, so I was so excited today! Originally we were supposed to go to a friend's house because they have a little girl Keller's age. They were also inviting other people over and all the kiddos were going to have a big egg-coloring party! Doesn't that sound like such fun?
Only, Marlee came down with the stomach flu today (sorry Marlee, feel better soon!), so the party was canceled. At first I fretted because I had nothing to color eggs with, but then I remembered that Aunt Jessica sent Keller an Easter basket yesterday and it had egg color in it! Yea! She saved the day!
So, I got everything all set up nice and neat...

I only did 8 eggs at first because he's two! How long would his interest keep?

Boy was I wrong! This kid had a blast! Especially once Tanner and my dad got in on the action. Keller was all about making sure every cup had at least two eggs! I was sad at the start because of the unique way we dyed the eggs this year, I thought there wouldn't be anyway to swirl all the colors. Yeah, Keller quickly cleared that misconception up for me!
Drop the egg in...give it a swirl...
Make sure every cup is full...and the crunching of the shells just makes for more intricate patterns...
Make sure you smush, smush, smush the eggs...
Oh wait! He found one that wasn't full!
Keller was having so much fun, I had to boil the 4 I set aside not to cook, and then ask my mom to bring over another dozen! This kid just kept going and going! We took time out to color some designs on the eggs with a crayon.
Here's a close up of the egg cups. They are an ingenious no spill design...when they are used correctly with only one egg at a time, not two! Ha! On the other hand, Keller's idea of stacking the eggs made us end up with the most interesting colors and designs!
Oh, he did a nice job of dying his hands too!

Tanner thought it was funny to act like he was crunching down on one, and of course Keller copied him. This was just before he sank his teeth into the egg!
 He's easter egg colored hands!
 The carnage...
Look at the art work! You notice there is one missing. It was sacrificed to the Easter egg making gods after Keller dug his finger and his teeth into it! I know he will have fun in the morning finding them!
Happy Easter!

Terra Verde sings at Rivermont

I say it all the time, but I will say it again--we are SO HAPPY that we have found Terra Verde Discovery School for Keller to attend. This year has been amazing. We have gone from having a child who HATED going to school everyday the last two years to having a little boy who can't wait to get there in the morning.  His teacher, Ms. Lindsay Berryhill, is an amazing woman who has gotten Keller to tune in and love learning.  Among the wonderful things he has done in first grade this year, including learning Mandarin, having a lemonade stand to earn money to build an animal hospital for dramatic play, visiting The Orr Family Farm, having a manners lunch at Charlestons, and many more things, he also had the opportunity to sing Christmas carols with his 89 other school mates at Rivermont Retirement Home.  The seniors at the home were so entered by these children and we were truly impressed with how well they all behaved. The singing was excellent, but what was truly inspiring w...

It's been ENTIRELY too long!

Clearly Keller is distraught that it has been so long since my last posting. It has been almost two weeks since my last blog post. These last two weeks at school have been so busy that when I come home at night the last thing I want to do is get on the computer. Plus, working so much has not left me ample time to get good shots of Keller. When we're playing and he does something funny I never have the camera around. However, as a good change of pace I do have some good video taken from this weekend. My mom keeps Keller 2-3 days a week and for some reason she decided the boy does not have enough toys. As if...(haha, throwback to Clueless). So, she decided Keller needed to work on being the next Tiger Woods (before all the you know). Anyway, this is Keller with his very first set of golf clubs. At first glance, he seems like a natural... Doesn't it look like he hit the ball right into the cup and is now getting the ball out of his hole-in-one? We he did get it in the cup ...
