We had a pretty low-key Independence Day this year. We spent most of the day swimming at the Triplett's with Jennifer (my childhood best friend) and her family and then watched fireworks at Belmar Gold Club in Norman. (We have gone there the past three years and I swear they are the best fireworks around).
Keller has certainly made a change from last year. Our little buddy went from being timid in the water last year to a little water bug this year. He LOVES the diving board and spent the majority of his time yesterday jumping in and getting out and doing it all over again. He even mastered a cannonball yesterday! Our next step is to get him to take swim lessons which he doesn't seem to like the idea of right now. He is very happy with his life jacket. It's hard to believe summer is half over! On the bright side....football kicks off in 57 days!!!!! Boomer Sooner!
I say it all the time, but I will say it again--we are SO HAPPY that we have found Terra Verde Discovery School for Keller to attend. This year has been amazing. We have gone from having a child who HATED going to school everyday the last two years to having a little boy who can't wait to get there in the morning. His teacher, Ms. Lindsay Berryhill, is an amazing woman who has gotten Keller to tune in and love learning. Among the wonderful things he has done in first grade this year, including learning Mandarin, having a lemonade stand to earn money to build an animal hospital for dramatic play, visiting The Orr Family Farm, having a manners lunch at Charlestons, and many more things, he also had the opportunity to sing Christmas carols with his 89 other school mates at Rivermont Retirement Home.
