As many of you know, Jed and I are both foodies. Jed mans the grill (Blue Eyes BBQ if you haven't tried it you should! Like his page on Facebook!) and I stay in the kitchen. Recently, Keller has really taken an interest in helping me cook. Anytime I am in the kitchen he wants to sit on the counter or help still or crumble something up.
A couple weeks ago we had a friend who had shoulder surgery, so I thought a homemade lasagne would be nice to feed her family of 6 the night she got home from the hospital. Keller of course insisted on helping. He loved stirring the meat sauce.
However, his favorite part of building the lasagne. He helped me layer by layer. We laid out the noodles, then he scooped in the cheese mixture all by himself. After I spread it out, he added the sauce and noodles. This kid literally put an entire lasagne pan together almost all by himself! I was so proud of him. My little chef!
I also experimented with cake balls this summer. I experimented. I will never do them again. While they tasted okay, they were a gigantic pain in the butt. I do not know if I will ever make them again. Keller, of course, wanted to help again. This time he wanted to help frost. He didn't do quite so well with the cake balls as he did the lasagne. At first I was letting him try dipping them like I was doing. That did not work out at all. so I just set a few on a piece of foil and decided to let him just drip frosting on them. Clearly by the look on his face, this was not his favorite activity.
Here they are with just frosting on them.
He cheered up after a while and was quite proud of himself.
Then came the sprinkles part. He took this task very seriously. Can you see the concentration on his face?
