Summer heat

Wow! I can't believe the last post was almost one month ago. Can you say slacker? It has been so dang hot for the last month with temps being at least 100 degrees or higher, that we haven't even been able to play outside, which makes for some pretty boring days. We are kind of stuck in a mid-summer funk and I (regrettably) have not taken very many pictures. Keller is as funny as ever and is talking up a storm these days. He repeats everything we say, so we have really had to learn to check our language around him!
Keller's favorite word is still "No!", but we pride ourselves that he is learning his manners, too. He always says "Please", "Thank You", "Your Welcome", "Bless You" (when someone sneezes) and "Excuse Me". I wish my high schoolers were as well-mannered as my 2 1/2 year old.
His big accomplistment this summer has been getting potty trained. The 3 day method works like a champ and Keller is ready for Pre-School. So, I do have some random pictures taken throughout the last month. Enjoy!

Keller and Jed love horsing around in Keller's playroom. Keller uses Jed as tunnel, a bridge, a horse, a jungle gym, a trampoline...take your pic. I love this picture.

Stud muffin!

These next few pictures are of the block tower we built one day. Admittedly, I did help him get started, but my construction skills stopped about the fourth block (it's the last one that is straight). It was all Keller from there on out. He actually got the tower pretty high, then like Jenga, it become so unstable it toppled over.

See, he's kinda looking at the base like "What just happend?"

And so, we begin again...

Once it cools down in the evenings, we try to go outside for a little bit and Keller plays in his sandbox.

Smurf feet!
The blue sand it supposed to be less sticky than regular sand. Yeah right! It sticks!

In these last three pictures, I had just received a huge order for a Pampered Chef customer and Keller was so excited to help me unpack the boxes -or presents as he called them. Each one was stuffed with about 3 feet of this brown paper and Keller had a hey day with it!

Do you see him?
Sometimes I really question myself, like parents before me have done for years, why I even buy toys? This kid is more entertained with paper and boxes than anything!

Terra Verde sings at Rivermont

I say it all the time, but I will say it again--we are SO HAPPY that we have found Terra Verde Discovery School for Keller to attend. This year has been amazing. We have gone from having a child who HATED going to school everyday the last two years to having a little boy who can't wait to get there in the morning.  His teacher, Ms. Lindsay Berryhill, is an amazing woman who has gotten Keller to tune in and love learning.  Among the wonderful things he has done in first grade this year, including learning Mandarin, having a lemonade stand to earn money to build an animal hospital for dramatic play, visiting The Orr Family Farm, having a manners lunch at Charlestons, and many more things, he also had the opportunity to sing Christmas carols with his 89 other school mates at Rivermont Retirement Home.  The seniors at the home were so entered by these children and we were truly impressed with how well they all behaved. The singing was excellent, but what was truly inspiring w...

It's been ENTIRELY too long!

Clearly Keller is distraught that it has been so long since my last posting. It has been almost two weeks since my last blog post. These last two weeks at school have been so busy that when I come home at night the last thing I want to do is get on the computer. Plus, working so much has not left me ample time to get good shots of Keller. When we're playing and he does something funny I never have the camera around. However, as a good change of pace I do have some good video taken from this weekend. My mom keeps Keller 2-3 days a week and for some reason she decided the boy does not have enough toys. As if...(haha, throwback to Clueless). So, she decided Keller needed to work on being the next Tiger Woods (before all the you know). Anyway, this is Keller with his very first set of golf clubs. At first glance, he seems like a natural... Doesn't it look like he hit the ball right into the cup and is now getting the ball out of his hole-in-one? We he did get it in the cup ...
