Carnival!

Over the weekend we went to Guthrie to see my Nene and Papa and cousins, Channing and Baylor. Channing is 4 and -if you remember from earlier posts- she is not Keller's biggest fan. Only this time she seems to have changed her tune and she was more than happy to share her toys and her snacks with him. She even gave Keller an apple and he copied her in eating it-as in not letting me cut it up! He bit right into the thing and ate almost the entire apple, core and all!

Two exciting things happened today. The first being that Tanner (or Unh T, in Keller speak) flew into Will Rogers today from Wichita Falls, so Mom, Dad, and Keller got to go out and see Tanner's jet and snap a couple photos. I was very jealous that I had to work :(. Keller was very excited to see his Uncle T but he wasn't so sure about all the loud noise the jets made. When it was time for Tanner to go Keller kept saying, "Bye Unh T, fly away!"

SHOUT week is going on at Noble this week (it's a week long event in which the community raises money to help a child in need. This year it happens to be a Noble student and we are trying to raise $20,000 in a week! I know it will be successful though because the goal last year was $10,000 and Noble came together and raised just over $16,000!) Anyhoo...
To kick off the week DECA hosted a carnival, complete with exotic animals, a bouncy castle, cotton candy and face painting. Keller was very tired from his day spent at the airport so he wasn't the most cooperative but we managed to get a few pictures of him having fun at his first carnival.
Our first stop was the bouncy castle because as soon as we walked into the gym Keller saw it and made a beeline for it. He is really into jumping lately and his favorite spot is our bed! He was a little unsure at first because there were a ton of bigger kids causing all kinds of ruckus, but once we shooed them out and Keller had the castle all too himself for a few minutes he really started enjoying it.

I felt as though we had monopolized the bouncy palace enough and needed to let the big kids back in, so I made Keller get out (with only a small fight) and we headed to cotton candy. At the cotton candy station we saw our favorite high schooler, Kyndra...

...and she was nice enough to give Keller his first taste of cotton candy!

He was so not a fan of it though because it made his fingers sticky and he is weird about his hands being dirty. He hates it! Instead, he handed his cotton candy to me and I quickly devoured it. (Couldn't let it go to waste could I?)
We wandered out and played a few games...
This game is really supposed to be played with baseballs, but K figured out his own version.

Bowling...

He was pretty good and could probably beat me!

And shootin hoops with his Pops a.k.a. Jed

And we even saw some exotic animals, namely a snake and a turtle because we missed the other animals.
Keller tried to get brave with the snake but he would get only so close and run away, so I don't have pictures of that. However, he was quite impressed with the turtle.
He tried to pet it like he does Dazy and patted it on the back and said, "Nice turtle".

Finally it was time to go home as we had one tired little guy on our hands. He did cooperate for one last photo op though.
And became our little cowboy!

Terra Verde sings at Rivermont

I say it all the time, but I will say it again--we are SO HAPPY that we have found Terra Verde Discovery School for Keller to attend. This year has been amazing. We have gone from having a child who HATED going to school everyday the last two years to having a little boy who can't wait to get there in the morning.  His teacher, Ms. Lindsay Berryhill, is an amazing woman who has gotten Keller to tune in and love learning.  Among the wonderful things he has done in first grade this year, including learning Mandarin, having a lemonade stand to earn money to build an animal hospital for dramatic play, visiting The Orr Family Farm, having a manners lunch at Charlestons, and many more things, he also had the opportunity to sing Christmas carols with his 89 other school mates at Rivermont Retirement Home.  The seniors at the home were so entered by these children and we were truly impressed with how well they all behaved. The singing was excellent, but what was truly inspiring w...

It's been ENTIRELY too long!

Clearly Keller is distraught that it has been so long since my last posting. It has been almost two weeks since my last blog post. These last two weeks at school have been so busy that when I come home at night the last thing I want to do is get on the computer. Plus, working so much has not left me ample time to get good shots of Keller. When we're playing and he does something funny I never have the camera around. However, as a good change of pace I do have some good video taken from this weekend. My mom keeps Keller 2-3 days a week and for some reason she decided the boy does not have enough toys. As if...(haha, throwback to Clueless). So, she decided Keller needed to work on being the next Tiger Woods (before all the you know). Anyway, this is Keller with his very first set of golf clubs. At first glance, he seems like a natural... Doesn't it look like he hit the ball right into the cup and is now getting the ball out of his hole-in-one? We he did get it in the cup ...
