What a month!

My previous post was about how freaking cold it is and all the fun we had playing in the snow we have had this month. Typical February weather, I guess you could say. Fast forward only 2 weeks and we are playing outside in 70 degree weather! Only in Oklahoma (well, and Texas).
We spent last weekend in Dallas with friends and family. On Saturday, my college friend and roommate Shea's daughter, Kinley, had her second birthday party and Keller was invited. It turned out to be a truly beautiful day with 70 degree temps and shining sun. Keller even got his first sunburn  because it never occured to me to put sunblock on him in February!

Me and Shea

When we got to the party, Keller made a beeline for the car and played in it most of the time. Believe it or not,we don't have one of these cars at our house ( I know, I can hear you. Every kid has one of these. Well not ours. He has two 4-wheelers instead.)

The car and Kinley's balloons were Keller's favorite part of the day. He wouldn't leave the balloons alone, and insisted on carrying them out in the sun and everywhere he went in the backyard. This kid has a strange fascination with balloons.

He also loved playing in the pool water at Shea's parents' house, and we couldn't keep him away from it. He probably would have gone swimming if we would have let him. And, he especially found it interesting when Maya (the dog) was drinking from the pool.

Sometimes I worry because that Keller isn't that sociable. He doesn't go to daycare and doesn't really have any friends his age around him to play with often, so I am worried his social skills aren't up to par, especially because he did spend most of Kinley's party playing by himself. However, once things started to wind down, he and Kinley actually played quite well together. Keller gave her a hug.

And we didn't leave without them kissing each other.

Isn't this the cutest picture ever?!

Once the party was over, it was time to head home. It took about five minutes for Keller to crash in the car.
But, once we got back to my mom and dad's house, he was rarin' to go as soon as he saw Papa Todd. Keller absolutely thinks my dad hung the moon and follows him around everywhere. Dad was doing yardwork on Saturday and that was perfectly fine with Keller. He followed his papa on the tractor, out to the wood pile and even helped him water the yard- if that's what you want to call it.

He was so filthy and wet, we had to take him right from outside to the bathtub. I've never seen so much dirt come off of one little person!
We had such a good time on Saturday and can't wait to get to play with Kinley again soon.

Terra Verde sings at Rivermont

I say it all the time, but I will say it again--we are SO HAPPY that we have found Terra Verde Discovery School for Keller to attend. This year has been amazing. We have gone from having a child who HATED going to school everyday the last two years to having a little boy who can't wait to get there in the morning.  His teacher, Ms. Lindsay Berryhill, is an amazing woman who has gotten Keller to tune in and love learning.  Among the wonderful things he has done in first grade this year, including learning Mandarin, having a lemonade stand to earn money to build an animal hospital for dramatic play, visiting The Orr Family Farm, having a manners lunch at Charlestons, and many more things, he also had the opportunity to sing Christmas carols with his 89 other school mates at Rivermont Retirement Home.  The seniors at the home were so entered by these children and we were truly impressed with how well they all behaved. The singing was excellent, but what was truly inspiring w...

It's been ENTIRELY too long!

Clearly Keller is distraught that it has been so long since my last posting. It has been almost two weeks since my last blog post. These last two weeks at school have been so busy that when I come home at night the last thing I want to do is get on the computer. Plus, working so much has not left me ample time to get good shots of Keller. When we're playing and he does something funny I never have the camera around. However, as a good change of pace I do have some good video taken from this weekend. My mom keeps Keller 2-3 days a week and for some reason she decided the boy does not have enough toys. As if...(haha, throwback to Clueless). So, she decided Keller needed to work on being the next Tiger Woods (before all the you know). Anyway, this is Keller with his very first set of golf clubs. At first glance, he seems like a natural... Doesn't it look like he hit the ball right into the cup and is now getting the ball out of his hole-in-one? We he did get it in the cup ...
