Christmas Eve

We always spend Christmas Eve with Jed's family in Pauls Valley, and it is always a good time. What changed things up the most this year was that instead of drawing names for a gift exchange we just played Dirty Santa with $100 limit! It was so fun. The presents were great. Some of the things up for grabs were a panini press, a food saver, a blue ray player (Jed got it), a Kindle (me!), a really cool iHome, and a number of other things. It quickly turned into quite a vicious game as everything started getting stolen. But it was the most fun Dirty Santa I have ever played!
Karis and Keller are the only two grandchildren right now, so they had tons of presents to open. Karis is seven, so she has the present thing down. Keller, not so much. Though his birthday gave him good practice, he was a little slow at opening presents tonight. But once he got the hang of it. He was on a roll!
His first present were these finger crayons...

that he proceeded to stack over and over and over again all night. No matter how many other presents he opened.

The highlight of the evening was his big present from Mommo and Bapa.

That's right. It's a John Deere tractor! Both of Keller's grandpa's have a real John Deere that Keller climbs on over and over and over, so Stuart and Rita decided Keller just needed one his own size. He can't quite steer yet but I am sure he'll get the hang of it soon!

Karis also loved driving this tractor (even if she is a little big), and that was okay with Keller because he liked riding in the back of it!

And making sure Bear E. Switzer and Nine (lion) got to go for a ride too).
Speaking of Nine who he still loves more than anything and who goes with us everywhere...

Keller discovered pockets in his jeans, and so now Nine's tail goes in his pocket and his drags the poor lion everywhere. It is so funny.
Karis is very into American Girl right now and got an American Girl horse. Well, Keller decided it was just the right size for him to ride on.

His cousin DID NOT think so, but she quickly forgave him when she realized he was getting tired and really just wanted a cup of milk and wanted to be held. Keller loves Karis or "Daris" to him and will let her hold him anytime.

Before bed he had to have that all important bedtime snack, and this kids loves ice cream, well sherbet really. As you can see Mommo just lets him eat it right out of the tub and this kid digs in!

Mommo and Karis also took a breather,
This kid had a great night.

It was a wild and crazy night, and my sister-in-law Ingrid had the right idea. Cheers!

Terra Verde sings at Rivermont

I say it all the time, but I will say it again--we are SO HAPPY that we have found Terra Verde Discovery School for Keller to attend. This year has been amazing. We have gone from having a child who HATED going to school everyday the last two years to having a little boy who can't wait to get there in the morning.  His teacher, Ms. Lindsay Berryhill, is an amazing woman who has gotten Keller to tune in and love learning.  Among the wonderful things he has done in first grade this year, including learning Mandarin, having a lemonade stand to earn money to build an animal hospital for dramatic play, visiting The Orr Family Farm, having a manners lunch at Charlestons, and many more things, he also had the opportunity to sing Christmas carols with his 89 other school mates at Rivermont Retirement Home.  The seniors at the home were so entered by these children and we were truly impressed with how well they all behaved. The singing was excellent, but what was truly inspiring w...

It's been ENTIRELY too long!

Clearly Keller is distraught that it has been so long since my last posting. It has been almost two weeks since my last blog post. These last two weeks at school have been so busy that when I come home at night the last thing I want to do is get on the computer. Plus, working so much has not left me ample time to get good shots of Keller. When we're playing and he does something funny I never have the camera around. However, as a good change of pace I do have some good video taken from this weekend. My mom keeps Keller 2-3 days a week and for some reason she decided the boy does not have enough toys. As if...(haha, throwback to Clueless). So, she decided Keller needed to work on being the next Tiger Woods (before all the you know). Anyway, this is Keller with his very first set of golf clubs. At first glance, he seems like a natural... Doesn't it look like he hit the ball right into the cup and is now getting the ball out of his hole-in-one? We he did get it in the cup ...
