What a weekend!

Thursday was Veteran's Day and the school I teach at has a big Veteran's Assembly to honor all retired and active members of the United States Armed Forces. Tanner was invited since he is currently on active duty in pilot training in the Air Force. It was pretty neat and I was pretty proud to be able to take him around my colleagues and peers and show him off and be proud that my brother is a member of our great military. He wore his flight suit (he says that the dress blues are so uncomfortable) and I think a few of my students even developed a crush on him. It was a really neat day at school, but then I took the rest of the day off just to hang out with him.  T brought his flight helmet because he thought Keller would get a kick out of it. Here are a few pics.

Checking out the helmet

He finally got brave and put it on his head. Only it was backwards and everytime we tried to put it on the right way he would take it off and put it on backwards again!

Uumm...

Keller really wasn't sure what to think about Tanner wearing the helmet. Eventually though he warmed up to him and then he thought it was pretty fun.

On Friday night we had some friends over for dinner and while they were here it was time to get Keller ready for bed. He showed off for Torri, April, and Ricky and played peek-a-boo with one of his toy boxes, another one of his new favorite games.

Where's Keller?

"Peek-a-boo! I'm right here!"
Saturday was OU's last home game and I actually didn't go to it. Keller has been away at his grandparent's house most of the week, so I did not want to go off and leave him again. I was feeling the need for some major Mommy/Keller time, so we hung out all day by ourselves. It was so nice. Sunday morning turned out to be one of the most beautiful mornings in a long time. It is starting to get chilly out, so we had to put on a coat, but we thought it would be fun to go out and help Jed rake leaves. This was Keller's first time playing in leaf piles and oh my, did he have so much fun!
He was watching Jed rake. You could just see the wheels turning in his head.

Time to dive in

Pretty comfy!

Throwing leaves is the most fun!

CUTEST PICTURE EVER!

On Sunday evening we went to Ted's Cafe Escondido (yum yum) with my grandparents to celebrate my Nene's 70th birthday. We had to drive to Edmond to meet them and Keller found ways to entertain himself in the car, as always. He loves wearing Jed's ski cap right now and I just had to snap a couple pictures because I thought he looked too cute.

My Aunt Dawn and her family were also there. Channing, Dawn's daughter, just turned 4 and so far she has not been Keller's biggest fan over the last two years. She doesn't like having to share the spotlight when he is around (ah, the joy of kids sometimes), but I think she is slowly starting to come around to thinking Keller might actually be alright. Somehow I finally managed to snap a cute pic of the two of them together.
Keller doesn't get to go out to restaurants too often anymore because he usually is terrible at them! However, he did so well on this outing and managed to sit in his chair almost the entire time. He did finally lose his patience though and Jed had to take him out of his high chair and entertain him. Ballcaps are wonderful entertainers believe it or not.
Keller kept taking Jed's hat on and off and putting it on all sorts of different ways. Nodding his head each time he thought it looked good!

And I even managed to get one of Keller and Nene even though he really didn't want anything to do with her.

I, on the other hand, am always happy to pose for a pic with two of my favorite people in the world!

Terra Verde sings at Rivermont

I say it all the time, but I will say it again--we are SO HAPPY that we have found Terra Verde Discovery School for Keller to attend. This year has been amazing. We have gone from having a child who HATED going to school everyday the last two years to having a little boy who can't wait to get there in the morning.  His teacher, Ms. Lindsay Berryhill, is an amazing woman who has gotten Keller to tune in and love learning.  Among the wonderful things he has done in first grade this year, including learning Mandarin, having a lemonade stand to earn money to build an animal hospital for dramatic play, visiting The Orr Family Farm, having a manners lunch at Charlestons, and many more things, he also had the opportunity to sing Christmas carols with his 89 other school mates at Rivermont Retirement Home.  The seniors at the home were so entered by these children and we were truly impressed with how well they all behaved. The singing was excellent, but what was truly inspiring w...

It's been ENTIRELY too long!

Clearly Keller is distraught that it has been so long since my last posting. It has been almost two weeks since my last blog post. These last two weeks at school have been so busy that when I come home at night the last thing I want to do is get on the computer. Plus, working so much has not left me ample time to get good shots of Keller. When we're playing and he does something funny I never have the camera around. However, as a good change of pace I do have some good video taken from this weekend. My mom keeps Keller 2-3 days a week and for some reason she decided the boy does not have enough toys. As if...(haha, throwback to Clueless). So, she decided Keller needed to work on being the next Tiger Woods (before all the you know). Anyway, this is Keller with his very first set of golf clubs. At first glance, he seems like a natural... Doesn't it look like he hit the ball right into the cup and is now getting the ball out of his hole-in-one? We he did get it in the cup ...
