The bad thing about being so busy at school during the week is the fact that it leaves so few opportunities to capture Keller learning and growing. He is starting to speak in complete sentences-most of them in a language I don't understand-but they are complete sentences nonetheless!
Fall has officially arrived and hopefully that means a break in the heat. The forecast this week is calling for weather only in the 80s. Yea! Now let's just hope this trend continues and we don't get back into the 90s next week. Of course, it's Oklahoma, anything can happen!
With it being so nice outside, we have been spending a lot more time out there. Most of our days when we aren't in school we spend outside. Unfortunately, the camera doesn't make it out as often as we do, so I miss a lot of shots. While my mom was here last week she converted Keller's water table into a sand table so he could use it more in the fall. We went out to play on Saturday morning (and yes, we wear t-shirts and diapers only a lot!)

Keller loves playing with the the sand, but not actually in the table. His favorite thing is to scoop it and drop it on the ground at his feet.

At this rate we are going to have the beach in our backyard before winter hits.
Keller also has a sand rake that for whatever reason his does NOT like. So, he kept trying to give it to me.
However, I didn't want it either, so every time Keller handed it to me, I set it on the ground so I could have the camera at ready. This was not a good idea. He kept picking it up and handing it back to me, insisting that I hold it. After about 3 times of me setting it down, Keller really got made and so he chunked it against the fence. And here it lies...
Luckily, his tantrums are over just as soon as they start. After a couple minutes, Keller realized  he wanted to slide and the world was all better once again.

People (family members and a few friends) thought Jed and I were crazy when we decided to take the footboard off of Keller's crib and convert it into a toddler/daybed. For a couple weeks we put a rail on the side of it, but now he has gotten the hang of being in a big boy bed and we don't worry about him falling out. Instead, it is really nice because when he is ready for bed or nap, he goes and crawls in his bed all by himself!

And he even gets up well too.
And the best part, this kid knows when he is ready for bed. He looks like this...
He drags his lion around by its tail and just wonders around aimlessly until you finally follow him into his bedroom to tuck him in. Once he is tucked in, it's time for Goodnight Moon, and then he gives us a kiss and says "Ub U" (Love you) and we don't hear from him for 11 hours. Gotta love that.

Terra Verde sings at Rivermont

I say it all the time, but I will say it again--we are SO HAPPY that we have found Terra Verde Discovery School for Keller to attend. This year has been amazing. We have gone from having a child who HATED going to school everyday the last two years to having a little boy who can't wait to get there in the morning.  His teacher, Ms. Lindsay Berryhill, is an amazing woman who has gotten Keller to tune in and love learning.  Among the wonderful things he has done in first grade this year, including learning Mandarin, having a lemonade stand to earn money to build an animal hospital for dramatic play, visiting The Orr Family Farm, having a manners lunch at Charlestons, and many more things, he also had the opportunity to sing Christmas carols with his 89 other school mates at Rivermont Retirement Home.  The seniors at the home were so entered by these children and we were truly impressed with how well they all behaved. The singing was excellent, but what was truly inspiring w...

It's been ENTIRELY too long!

Clearly Keller is distraught that it has been so long since my last posting. It has been almost two weeks since my last blog post. These last two weeks at school have been so busy that when I come home at night the last thing I want to do is get on the computer. Plus, working so much has not left me ample time to get good shots of Keller. When we're playing and he does something funny I never have the camera around. However, as a good change of pace I do have some good video taken from this weekend. My mom keeps Keller 2-3 days a week and for some reason she decided the boy does not have enough toys. As if...(haha, throwback to Clueless). So, she decided Keller needed to work on being the next Tiger Woods (before all the you know). Anyway, this is Keller with his very first set of golf clubs. At first glance, he seems like a natural... Doesn't it look like he hit the ball right into the cup and is now getting the ball out of his hole-in-one? We he did get it in the cup ...
