Fall Break

Fall Break started last Wednesday. It was so nice to have 5 days off to just hang out with Keller. Fall Break also equals the end of the first nine weeks which means the school year is 1/4 of the way over. It also means that Christmas break is only 9 weeks away! WooHoo!
Keller and I got to spend a lot of quality time together and it was awesome because I have been so busy lately with school stuff. So on Wednesday we played outside pretty much all day. While we were out in the backyard, Keller discovered dandelions! At first he just walked around the backyard trying to smell them.

But after I picked one and showed him what to do with it he became very fasinated.

So he tried to blow and it tickled his nose,

so then he tried to eat it and quickly realized it doesn't taste so good.
He really was cracking me up because he was fascinated by the stupid weed for about half and hour (which is years in his book). Finally, we moved on to other things though. Wednesday was a big flying day I guess (??) because it was so clear. We live close to Max Westheimer Airport in Norman (small planes fly in and out), so you can always hear planes flying over, plus Tinker AFB isn't too far away either, and we get our share of Air Force jets flying overhead. Later in the afternoon we went back outside and Keller found the perfect spot in the yard to sit and watch the planes.

However, break time was soon over it was down down down the slide.

After sliding we walked down the street to check the mail and Keller ran into the mailman so he decided he could help deliver the mail.

He has the whole key thing figured out. Locked doors do not bother this kid. We are in so much trouble.
On our way back from checking the mail, we decided to check in on our neighbor Neva (she is 90 and lives two doors down and lives all alone, so we check up on her a couple days a week), and Keller learned to play piano! Or rather he taught himself.

On Thursday we went to the park in downtown Norman. My batteries died in my camera so I only got a couple shots of Keller playing, but none of them beat this one! Is he cute or what?!
To end fall break and for the weekend, we headed to Dallas to see my parents. It was great because we got to see Tanner (Unh T!) and Drew (Joo), Tanner's best friend and Air Force buddy since they came to visit for the weekend too. If you follow college football then you know Saturday was NOT a good day for us Sooners fans so I really don't have much to say.
Keller is very into rough-housing right now, but Dad, Tanner, and Drew were at the Air Force game, Mom was taking pictures, and I believe Jed was hanging out with his friend Jim (Beam), so that left me to be Keller's jungle gym. He discovered riding and pretending I am a horse is his new favorite game, so I crawled around my parents' living room floor on my hands and knees for like 2 hours!
Finally, on Sunday the fun and games were over and it was time to head home. We couldn't have left at a better time. I'm sure you heard about the tornadoes in Dallas on Sunday late afternoon/evening? Well, I couldn't resist snapping pics as we drove away from the storm system that produced them. Oh, there is nothing like a midwestern sky...

Terra Verde sings at Rivermont

I say it all the time, but I will say it again--we are SO HAPPY that we have found Terra Verde Discovery School for Keller to attend. This year has been amazing. We have gone from having a child who HATED going to school everyday the last two years to having a little boy who can't wait to get there in the morning.  His teacher, Ms. Lindsay Berryhill, is an amazing woman who has gotten Keller to tune in and love learning.  Among the wonderful things he has done in first grade this year, including learning Mandarin, having a lemonade stand to earn money to build an animal hospital for dramatic play, visiting The Orr Family Farm, having a manners lunch at Charlestons, and many more things, he also had the opportunity to sing Christmas carols with his 89 other school mates at Rivermont Retirement Home.  The seniors at the home were so entered by these children and we were truly impressed with how well they all behaved. The singing was excellent, but what was truly inspiring w...

It's been ENTIRELY too long!

Clearly Keller is distraught that it has been so long since my last posting. It has been almost two weeks since my last blog post. These last two weeks at school have been so busy that when I come home at night the last thing I want to do is get on the computer. Plus, working so much has not left me ample time to get good shots of Keller. When we're playing and he does something funny I never have the camera around. However, as a good change of pace I do have some good video taken from this weekend. My mom keeps Keller 2-3 days a week and for some reason she decided the boy does not have enough toys. As if...(haha, throwback to Clueless). So, she decided Keller needed to work on being the next Tiger Woods (before all the you know). Anyway, this is Keller with his very first set of golf clubs. At first glance, he seems like a natural... Doesn't it look like he hit the ball right into the cup and is now getting the ball out of his hole-in-one? We he did get it in the cup ...
